White Bear Baseball Association

2018 WBBA Gopher State Registration

Letter from the President

Welcome to the 2018 baseball season!

On behalf of the WBBA board, it is our privilege to kick off a new season of White Bear Baseball and welcome back hundreds of Bears to the ball fields for another year.

We hope that 2018 will prove to be another successful season for the coaches and players of the White Bear Baseball Association as we try to build on the accomplishments of last season.  In 2017 we had Bears Baseball teams earn a total of six berths in the Gopher State, MSF, and MBT state tournaments and won silver medals in three of our section championship playoffs.

The 2018 season is already shaping up to be a good one for White Bear Baseball.  Steve “Hank” Henry was named the White Bear Varsity Baseball coach in September and has been an integral figure in our association since his first day on the job.  Coach Hank has been growing the White Bear Baseball Family each Wednesday night from 5-7 pm at the Vadnais Dome by having his high school players working side by side with our kids for key instruction and support.  Follow us on Facebook and Twitter to see the impact that Coach Hank is having each week.

This year we will have our first registration cost increase since the 2013 season.  In an effort to cover the increased costs associated with putting our Gopher State teams through tryouts and outfitting them for play in the GSBL, the cost to play traveling baseball at our 10U - 15U level is increasing to $350 this season.  This cost is reflective of the expenses incurred by the WBBA for MYAS league fees, umpires, equipment, and tryouts that are specific to these teams, and even with the increase for the 2018 season we are well below the traveling baseball fees charged by surrounding communities.  Fees for North Star and In-House teams will remain the same.

Tryouts for our Gopher State traveling teams will be held on March 24th and 25th.  You will need to sign up for tryouts by March 9th to avoid being charged a late registration fee.

The White Bear Baseball Association owes all of its success to individuals that are gracious enough to volunteer their time coaching, organizing, transporting, and cheering for our players.  On behalf of the entire WBBA community I would like to thank the parents, grandparents, relatives and friends that have so generously contributed to making this baseball season possible.

Play Ball!
